An ST rated tire is far inferior to an LT rated tire (regardless of the supposed load the ST might carry.
My Fleetwood Quantum 325RKTS GVWR of 13500 lb. came with the 235/80R/16 D rated tires and I changed them to 245/75R/16 E rated tires. Big difference. Just a month ago I changed axles/springs/rims and tires to 7,000 lb axles, and G-rated tires. Boy, what a difference. I will never use anything but G-rated from now on. Tires run 25 degrees cooler.

For the uninformed. PDI is pre-delivery inspection. It is performed by the dealer prior to delivery of the unit to the customer.
On the day of closing, the dealer does a walk through inspection with the customer. At this time, the dealer shows the customer how everything works, shows the customer how to hitch up if needed and they make a list of any customer concerns (if there are any).
Contrary to popular opinion, the customer NEVER does the PDI, and I'd love to see a walk through that takes a half a day.

I have an LLY Duramax, 04.5 model year, and a Friend of mine has one also. We both tow large 5th wheels (13,500 lb, gross) and neither one will overheat, even when the temp is 95 plus.
I am sure that if we tried to maintain 70 mph on a 6-7 percent upgrade we could MAKE them overheat, but why try?

Adjust your hitch, you are putting more weight on the back tires of the 5vr with it 2 inches high in front. Makes the rear tires run hotter. Might be asking for a blowout.

RE: Lost an axle!
I had a similar experience 3 weeks ago on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Bedford. My curb side rear spring broke in half right in the center. The 5th wheel dropped down on the rear tire and immediately blew it, then the front tire was rubbing, but I got stopped before it blew.
I was laid up for 19 hours before it was fixed.
fleetwood is shipping me a set of 7,000 lb axles, springs, wheels and tires (G-rated) to replace my 6,000 system. should be here in a couple of days.
By the way, the spring that broke was part of the Lippert suspension. The replacements are not Lippert.

I don't have that unit, I have a Quantum 325RKTS (08).
I personaly would not recommend a Quantum to anyone. I have had mine for 1 year and have had tremendous problems with it, Including the fact that I ordered it and it came in without a critical itemt that I ordered (dual pane windows), Took 3 months to straighten that out. Most recent, I broke a rear spring in half on the PA turnpike and am now fighting with Fleetwood to upgrade the axles to 7,000 lb system instead of 6,000.

RE: Shear pins for slides and landing gear?
The motor drives one slideout arm and it is connected to the other by a square tube with a small bolt through it. That is what shears. I replaced mine with a grade 8 bolt. The factory only puts in a grade 2, (cheaper)

7/8 socket, 6 inch extension, ratchet. Don't overtighten and you will never have a problem.

RE: GMC Immediate Shaft repair
It is probably not your intermediate shaft. I had mine replaced at 15,000 miles and it only quit for a couple of weeks. The dealer couldn't figure out why, so I dug into it myself. Found that the shaft goes through a nylon sleeve that mounts on the firewall. The sleeve wears and then the noise starts.
I bought the sleeve, replaced it myself and took the receipt to my service manager, They reimbursed me for the part and the labor.
I now have 102,000 miles on the truck and no noise ever.

Suspension and tires
I am going to change my complete suspension system (axles,hubs,springs, wheels and tires over to 7,000 lb system. Question is how much are Goodyear G614 LT 235/85R/16 Load range G tires.

When I retired for the second time in June of 04, my dealer asked me if I would be interested in working for him. I thought about it and said Yes. I worked for hime for two years and learned everything I needed to know about my own unit.
I still help out with the shows and open houses and I tow for them once in a while.
Best dealer I've found anyway, Dodd RV of Portsmouth and Newport News VA. George Dodd (father), Jamie Dodd (son and president), Jennifer Dodd Moore (daughter and General manager) Really great people.

I buy the 303 at my RV dealer. It's not cheap, but is it ever good!
I also use it in plact of wax on my 5th wheel. It makes the bugs easy to remove from the front cap.

In the 14 years I have been camping, I have stayed at many different KOA's. I have NEVER had a problem with any of them. The people have always been polite. In fact, my favorite campground is Mountain Valley KOA just south of Newmarket VA.
I have stayed in 4 or 5 in VA, two in Penna., two in Indiana, Two in Wisconsin.
I feel this issue with yours was just a fluke. I have stayed at that one 3 times, always good.
